Current News

Updated:   December 19, 2009

December 19, 2009:  The Park Service announces an increase in Sirena meal prices effective January 15.  Breakfast prices were raised from $12 to $15.  Lunch and dinner prices went from $15 to $20.

December 15, 2009:  Following a three-day search for a missing hiker, who was found alive and hungry, the Park Service restricts the Los Patos - Sirena trail to parties accompanied by guides.  Presumably the trail is to be reopened to the public once the Park Service is able to maintain the trail that became overgrown and less clearly outlined, during the rainy season.  This means that until further notice, the only way into Sirena on foot by unguided hikers is through the La Leona ranger station near Carate.

December 01, 2009:  The San Pedrillo - Sirena trail, which is normally opened on December 1 each year, was not re-opened this year.  The Park Service announces that the stretch of beach between Rio Llorona (where the arch rock is) and Sirena is not going to be re-opened to the public.

March 4, 2009:  Sirena ranger station is open again.  A maintenance issue was resolved, restoring Sirena water supply, and the Park service announced it was again accepting visitors and reservation requests.

March 3, 2009:  SIRENA RANGER STATION IS CLOSED!!!  Due to problems with the water supply Sirena Ranger Station is closed to new reservations until further notice!  No more information available, as this announcement was just made this afternoon.  Check back tomorrow for more information
